Register Rewards: Walgreens has a “Catalina” program called Register Rewards. A Register Reward is a coupon that prints after you make a qualifying purchase. It is typically good for “X” amount off of your next transaction.
If you buy two (or more) DIFFERENT Register Reward items in one transaction, one RR will print for each different product that you have. However, if you buy two of the SAME item, only one Register Reward will print. You cannot use the Register Reward you received from item “X” to buy the same item “X” if you want another RR to print. When Walgreens runs a Register Reward promotion, Spend XX amount of dollars, Receive Register Reward, you need to meet the specified amount BEFORE manufacturer coupons but AFTER store coupons.
Walgreens can become a little confusing to understand but once you got it it's not a big deal!
My shopping trip example:
Total in savings at Walgreens: $38.52
Total out of pocket: $13.13
And walked out with $8 in Register Rewards towards my next purchases.
So like paying: $5.13 for everything

At Walgreens it is most cost effective if you purchase items in several transactions to get and to use your register rewards.
