Ok I've had people ask how ‘ad matching’ works. This is something i have always done since i learned how to do it (from being a cashier at Wal-mart)
Wal-mart will ad match any ad that you have from a store with in 50miles of your area.
I use to get the newspaper on Thursdays so i could have my ad matches with me but now that Wal-Mart has changed their policy you no longer have to have the ad with you to still price match. You simply just tell them the ad match price (PM) and what store you are PM from.
I now look up my ad's to PM online but make sure it is an 'in store' ad and not an 'online only' ad.

How to ad match:

  1. You have to PM brand for brand, size for size and so on. If the store has the same brand advertised in the ad, then you have to get that brand. If  it is a sale price for the store brand, then you can PM store brand for store brand. So like the Dillon’s store brand is Kroger… for Wal-mart it is Great Value. According to the Customer Service Managers i have talked to at Wal-Mart they view store brand to store brand as the same brand. I was told that if someone tries to give you issues about it talk to a CSM and even talk to the manager if they are not allowing it.
  2. Also read your ad carefully. You have to make sure the item you are getting matches the ad in size, lb – oz – ct ect. But you do not have to get the same quantity. Say the ad says 4/$1…. you do not have to get ‘4’ you can get what ever amount you want. Although if the ad said ‘limit 5’ or something on that order some cashier will make you abide by that.
  3. When the ad said something like 2/$5… i find it more helpful if you just tell the cashier the item is $2.50 each or 10 for $10 items tell them $1 each and so on.
  4. You have to tell the cashier before she rings the product up that you have an ad match on that item. "I have a price match on this item Dillon's has butter for $1.99ea" something like that.
  5. Price Matching Walgreen's: You can not PM Walgreen's 'After Register Reward' price. A RR is a manufacture coupon for X amount towards the whole total of your next purchase, not one certain item. You can not PM a manufacture coupon. Please don't abuse this, any abuse affects all couponers!
I have saved so much money doing this alone, let alone if you couple it with coupons.
